Delivery Route Optimization

Mathematical optimization algorithm for delivery routes accounting for time windows and real-time traffic conditions.

Delivery Route Optimization

Challenge

NDA — Client name is not disclosed under a non-disclosure agreement

A nationwide logistics company managed hundreds of delivery routes daily. Route planning was done semi-manually -- dispatchers relied on experience and intuition. Delivery time windows, varying vehicle capacities, and dynamic traffic conditions created combinatorial complexity that human planners could not handle optimally.

Solution

The mathematical optimization algorithm finds optimal routes accounting for time windows, vehicle capacity, cargo type, traffic conditions, and delivery priorities. The system recalculates routes in real time when conditions change -- traffic jams, cancellations, urgent orders. Dispatchers see route visualization on an interactive map.
